Dale Earnhardt Jr Needs Better Equipment to Compete
Guest written by our friend Gladys Fuentes
Dale Earnhardt Jr went to Hendrick Motorsports with the intention of winning. He watched from afar as Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon competed for wins and championships, as he struggled with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated. When Dale Jr watched a young Kyle Busch jump in the seat of a Hendrick car and win in his first season, he knew they were the team.
Dale Jr left the company his father founded and moved to Hendrick Motorsports. The move was a tame version of the LeBron James free agency fiasco but just as big in NASCAR circles. Now three years removed from the decision, Dale Jr has not met with the success many had anticipated.
Dale Earnhardt Jr made a statement in the July Nationwide race when he said he would drive a number 3 Chevy in the Daytona 250. The car, decked out in Wrangler blue and yellow, holds a special place in Dale Earnhardt Jr's heart. The race was to be a vindication for Dale Earnhardt Jr fans and more importantly himself.
I watched the beautiful Wrangler number 3 shine in the lights of Daytona during the NASCAR telecast on the channels my cable tv offers in Ohio. It as an emotional win for Dale Jr and his fans. A night to remember. On that humid July night Dale Earnhardt Jr proved to the NASCAR community he can win if he has the right equipment.
