#17 Purdue at Wisconsin open thread

My game tonight was postponed due to a snowstorm in the greater Indianapolis area, so I will be here for the duration of the game to comment here on the open thread. Feel free to stop by and join me on the couch. The beer is in the fridge and the chips are in the pantry. I'll be parked here on my couch ready to enjoy another win! Comments are open.

By the way, many of you remember my rants against Brighthouse Networks, for the longest time they didn't have the Big Ten Network, and they still don't have NFL Sunday Ticket. they also don't offer NFL TV on their basic tier.

That is why if I could, I would switch to Direct TV. They have a much better NFL TV package thanks to Direct TV's NFL Sunday Ticket. With DirectTV's NFL Sunday Ticket you can watch every NFL game of the season. It is a little late for this season, but worth consideration for hte 2009 season.

Random comment on the end of the Kentucky-Mississippi game here: teams that are down by 10 ore and foul on purpose with 30 seconds or less left need to automatic lose the game. Of course, what do you expect from the Special Olympics tournament that is the SEC this season.

This is absolutely enfuriating. I forever for the rest of my life will cheer against Kentucky and Billy G. What an asshole.

Finally, we're here, and already up 7-3. NICE!!!

T-Mill said...

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! That's a forearm shiver!

T-Mill said...

well, if we can elbow people tonight Calasan should have at least made that one count. As it was he had 1/10th of the contact.

Unbelievable non-call on Krabbenhoft.

T-Mill said...

There is some of that unexpected offense we thrive on. Nice shot by Green.

T-Mill said...

Hey Scotty, I saw your comment on the preview. Did you go to New Castle?

T-Mill said...

Krabbenhoft has made it clear we're in for a streetfight tonight and there is going to be no control by the refs.

T-Mill said...

Hummel is hot tonight.

This has all the makings of a backyard brawl. Hopefully, Purdue finds a way to take the body-blows ... literally.

T-Mill said...

How did that snake in!?

Spartan fan said...

Krabbenhoft is a thug. He consistently plays like a big, angry ape.

T-Mill, Center Grove.

We're playing well after that streak of silly TOs.

Anonymous said...

Big possession! Nice finish JJ!

T-Mill said...

Fantastic possession there! credit to Chally for keeping that alive with a guy going over the back

T-Mill said...

Scotty,

Ah, gotcha now. I went to Kokomo. Our girls lost to you in the 1996 state finals.

T-Mill said...

Very good elevation by Grant there. like Minnesota, we're keeping their crowd out of it.

T-Mill said...

Just discussed the Kelvin Sanctions appeal with Mrs. T-Mill: She banged home the Verizon Wireless sponsorship for him if he ever gets hired again. Too bad her Canes lost in OT again tonight.

Let's keep this shooting up!

T-Mill said...

I'm looking at the box score online right now: This looks very similar to last year's game. We're shooting almost 74% from the field

T-Mill said...

At least that wasn't a cheap shot like the earlier one.

T-Mill said...

We're playing like a complete team tonight. We've got balance and everyone is helping. This is good.

T-Mill said...

Man that was a sweet three by E'Twaun

T-Mill said...

Man, you can tell our guys want this tonight. We look totally different from the Penn State game. I want that one back BADLY!

T-Mill said...

E'Twaun "The Bus Driver" Moore. The kid is teaching tonight!

Anonymous said...

Hummel is crazy. Back spasms be damn, I'm going to take a charge (wasn't called) battled for the rebound and get fouled on the floor.

T-Mill said...

Halftime thoughts, anyone?

Spartan fan said...

It warms my heart to see Wisconsin play generally so poorly. A couple of good shots near the end there, but other than that they're slow, shots are flat, and they just look out-of-sync.

If the Boilers can keep from turning the ball over the way they did a few times, they've got way too much for UW to handle. Hummel's too good for them, even with his back.

Anonymous said...

Playing well, though shooting 65% and only up 6 is kind of downer. Have to keep it up in the second half.

T-Mill said...

I feel like we have another second half stretch of nearly perfect basketball like we had at Minnesota.

Seth said...

If we can play a great second half then I see absolutely no reason why we can't win the big ten this year...MSU is very good, but if we're healthy, then I can't see why we aren't the best in the Big Ten

T-Mill said...

Someone might want to guard hughes, I'm just sayin'

T-Mill said...

I like that we're drawing fouls here. Any possession in which you draw multiple fouls is good.

T-Mill said...

Smart time out here. Our perimeter defense is failing against the worst 3-point shooting team in big Ten play.

Anonymous said...

Terrible start. Where is the defense?

Anonymous said...

Might want to guard the three-point line!

T-Mill said...

WE have such an advantage int he paint that we just need to force them inside.

T-Mill said...

We got lucky there. That was good, patient ball movement on the outside.

Anonymous said...

They've stepped up their defense. We've slacked ours a bit.

T-Mill said...

Moore has the best 15 foot jumper i have ever seen. If he is open from there just put the two on the board.

T-Mill said...

Come on, Keaton! That was a dumb, dumb foul

Anonymous said...

Think Brent is still debating the clear blocking foul?

T-Mill said...

Nankivil is killing us right now.

T-Mill said...

16 points from a guy averaging four. someone guard him!!!

Anonymous said...

Nankivil putting up crap and going in.

T-Mill said...

Give the ball to E'Twaun and set some screens!

T-Mill said...

Boy, they are getting away with tons of contact inside.

T-Mill said...

Hummel gets a wide open look and can't hit, nankivil barely knows what a 3-pointer is and he can't miss.

seth said...

Holy cow....put a man on Nankivil!

Anonymous said...

The game is slipping away. Looks like we are going to lay an egg in the second half.

Seth said...

We can pull it out if we don't screw up the end w/ stupid passes and playing solid D. But if Wissy keeps shooting out of their mind, it won't matter.

T-Mill said...

Too deep, maybe not!

Seth said...

Rebound!!!!!

T-Mill said...

Man, Wisconsin is breaking down defensively. We can't afford to now.

T-Mill said...

I think that was a two, if they review and reverse it is the right call.

T-Mill said...

Maybe not on that replay!

T-Mill said...

Grant Kramer, and Hummel have hit some huge shots here.

Seth said...

Boiler UP come on!!!

T-Mill said...

Come on Keaton, knock these down big guy

T-Mill said...

Splash two!

Anonymous said...

Solid ballhandling, and hit the free throws after the foul.

City said...

I'm getting in on this late, but I love the confidence this team is showing. Kramer stepping up to hit that three was huge, and Grant's deep 3 was too. Great to see both of those guys stepping up to make big shots after rough offensive seasons thus far.

T-Mill said...

Good point city. We're better when everyone contributes like that.

T-Mill said...

Why not put in Bobby Buckets here for free throws?

T-Mill said...

ugh, not free throws again!

seth said...

damn kramer ahhhhhhhh FT's!!!

T-Mill said...

GOOD BOARD JJ! Knock these down now

Anonymous said...

Come on JJ!!

T-Mill said...

When JJ makes this we had better not even touch them

T-Mill said...

JJ has really learned to convert from the line since the Illinois game

Anonymous said...

This season looks to be a lot like 1993-94 when everyone in the B10 was solid and every game was haad.

Anonymous said...

5 in a row!

Seth said...

Attta Boys! Way to finish.

T-Mill said...

Fantastic win for us. We showed such resiliency down five to come back and get that. The biggest play was when they missed that three when they were up five. Huge shots Kramer, Grant, and Hummell again.

And that review on Hummell's three was big.

Anonymous said...

how about kramer hitting a 3? he must be a 0.1 % 3 point shooter. i believe that was his 2nd 3 of the season. he is mr. clutch

City said...

Yeah, I don't know what it is, but it seems Hummel has one three reviewed every game.

Anyway, great gritty game. I'll be glad to see us back in Mackey this weekend.

T-Mill said...

I'll have more in the wrap tomorrow, but this was another survival game. We didn't have pretty stretches like the Minnesota game, but we didn't need a furious rally like Northwestern. We got ourselves in a fight on the road and somehow came out. We even survived the unexpected with Wisconsin raining threes.

T-Mill said...

Thanks to everyone who stopped by as well. It makes these games even more fun.

Jim said...

Wow, Bucky must feel crushed. I'm glad we are not going to have to play them again when they figure out how to finish. They will run off some wins here soon.

Krabbenhoft can suck it. Big "W".
